Stainless Steel Grill + Ferro Rod
& Nylon Case Product Eco Rating
The Grill and Fire Striker are both made with Stainless Steel, which is incredibly durable and completely, infinitely recyclable. The Stainless finish also prevents any toxins leaching into your food or the environment if it’s not recycled and incorrectly disposed of.
Now days, Stainless Steel products are made with up to 70% recycled materials, which reduces waste ending up in landfill. Using recycled scrap metal to produce new Stainless Steel products also reduces the resources and energy required during the production process as less of the product comes from newly mined materials.
The Nylon carry case for the grill is durable, although it’s very hard to recycle Nylon and contains micro plastics. The recyclability and manufacturing process ratings have been decreased due to this.
The Fire Striker is to used on the Ferro Rod, which is synthetic material called ‘Ferrocerium’ that was invented in the early 1900’s. Although it does cause some harm to the environment to produce Ferrocerium, mainly due to the mining of rare-Earth elements, although the end product can endure around 20,000 strikes, making it a much more durable and long-lasting fire starter, compared to matches or a Butane lighter.
Holing the Ferro Rod to the Fire Striker is a Jute cord, which is made from natural, plant-based fibres. The Jute Paracord can be unwoven in emergency situations and used as tinder.
