Free camp at a rest stop on the outskirts of Tom Price

Not Daz & Shaz’s Stop is basic, barebones rest area and overnight campground just a short drive out of Tom Price in the direction of Karijini.

This is a good location for an overnight stop over before or after a long drive, although you won’t want to spend a full day here or arrive too soon, as it’s very hot, dry, there’s next-to-shade & no facilities other than a couple of rubbish bins.

Finding the place

You can either search for “Parking Bay” when in the Tom Price area and it’ll show up on your GPS, otherwise head for Karijini National Park from Tom Price and just after turning left onto Karijini Drive, you’ll see the rest stop on your left.

The rest area is just off the road and partially surrounded by small shrubs with almost full exposure to the traffic passing by, including many road trains and other heavy vehicles that seem to travel at all hours.

There are a couple of dirt tracks that go behind the rest area which are considered as the campground. Here, you’ll find a little bit more privacy and bit more space, although the entire area is quite large and it’s not a popular spot, so finding space to set up the caravan or RV for the night won’t be a worry.

Campground Facilities

There’s nothing here. You’ll need to be 100% self sufficient.

Tom Price is only a short drive where you’ll find plenty of shops and public toilets. If you’re looking for a caravan park of cabins, try heading to the the Tom Price Tourist Park, which is a great, comfortable place to stay with mountain views.
