Camp among the ferns where the Peenebup Creek runs into the Blackwood River and twists around the secluded individual campsites beneath the eucalyptus canopy.

Chapman Pool, also known as Warner Glen Campground is about a 25 minute drive from the centre of Margaret River, nestled among the forest. It’s a beautiful place to camp that caters for tents, RVs and caravans with individual or group sites, all with low nightly rates.

There are 9 spacious individual campsites on the lower part of the campground, some much larger than others but all with plenty of room. A short distance from the individual camping area are the group sites, often still used by small, individual parties.

It’s a great place to spend a while. Set up base here and explore the local wine region, beaches and cave system or bring a kayak along and launch it from the campground!

The individual campsites are just a short stroll from the river, with each site being separated by forest, providing privacy from other campers.

Each campsite has a fire pit and free chopped wood is provided by park management, which can be collected from a large pile next to the toilets.

Campground Facilities

There are multiple non-flushing drop toilets spread throughout the campground that are cleaned several times a week by park management.

Close to the river is a day area that has gas barbecues and picnic tables, the same goes for an area behind the group camp sites.

You’ll need to bring along your own supply of drinking water.

Fees and Booking at Chapman Pool Campground

Campsites can’t be reserved, it’s a case of first-in. Just as you enter the campground, there’s a small booth where you can collect an envelope, make a cash payment and then put a receipt on your vehicle. Park management will call past regularly to pick up the cash and do a quick check around the place.

When we stayed here, it was $22 per night, but be sure to check if this amount has changed, all of the relevant info can be found at the booth/info sign as you enter.

Getting to Warner Glen Campsite & Chapman Pool

Chapman Pool & Warner Glen Campsite are at the same place, so you can just search for either name or follow the signs for both.

From Margarat River, head on the main road going south out of the town that’s called Bussell Highway. Stay on this straight road for about 15 minutes until you reach Warner Glen Road, where you’ll need to turn left.

Warner Glen Road is a dirt track, but suitable for almost any vehicle, 4wd isn’t necessary.

Around 10 minutes after turning onto the dirt road and going around some small bends, the turn off to the Warner Glen/Chapamn Pool campground is on the right. Once turning off the main road, drive for a few hundred metres. You’ll come across an intersection with a large bin on the left – turn right here to get to the campgrounds or keep driving straight if you’re only interested in heading to the river and day picnic area.
