Camp in the Mount Buffalo National Park next to Lake Catani
This is a great campground with really decent facilities that’s up in the mountains, just beside the stunning Lake Catani and just near a lot of main attraction in the Mount Buffalo National Park.

While you’re here, head on the Mount Buffalo Circuit that starts and finishes at the Lake Catani Campground!
Walk past Lake Catani, over the Underground River, through the gorge to the Mount Buffalo Chalet and Mt Buffalo Lookout, or take a short drive to the sites and plenty more, including The Horn Lookout and hiking trail.

Lake Catani Campground is suited to pretty much all types of campers, including caravans and RVs, as long as drive up the windy road into the mountains and short distance down a 2wd-friendly dirt track isn’t of concern. You’ll just need to pick a site that’s suitable for your setup.
There are 49 campsites, all of which need to be booked through the Park Vic websites. Choose between drive-in sites to park the caravan or set a tent next to your car, otherwise there’s a walk-in campground for tents only.
Although there is a large number of campsites, most of them are surrounded by bush and they’re all spread throughout a large area, so you’ll still have a bit of privacy and aren’t all crammed into the one place camping side-by-side. It’s a really good layout.
Fire pits and picnic tables are at most of the campsites or very close by.

Campground Facilities
For a bush campground in a national park, the facilities are impressive!
Central to the camping areas is a large building with toilets and showers, there’s even laundry facilities (showers, a laundry and flushing toilets are on the rare side of things when it comes to campgrounds in national parks).
Near the amenities block is large enclosed shelter, it looks like a big old cabin, with picnic tables out the front.
If you want to cook up by the lake, there’s also a day-use area down there that has barbecues, a shelter and toilets.
