Steel & Walnut Square Hoe
Product Eco Rating
This small Hoe has a Stainless Steel blade with a Walnut handle.
Both Steel and Hardwood are consider eco-friendly, as these materials are very durable and completely recyclable.
The Stainless finish on the Steel prevents any leaching of toxins into nature, either during its lifespan or if it’s disposed of and not recycled, it still won’t have a harmful impact on the environment.
Now days, Stainless Steel products are made with up to 70% recycled materials, which reduces waste ending up in landfill. Using recycled scrap metal to produce new Stainless Steel products also reduces the resources and energy required during the production process as less of the product comes from newly mined materials.
Walnut is a renewable material, although the trees are slow growing. Walnut timber products can be recycled and made into new timber items, otherwise it’ll decompose if buried and enough time is allowed. This particular timber used is not FSC Certified, which reduces the products eco rating.
Other than the energy and resources used during the full process of producing this Hand Spade, once the final product is created, it then has little harm on the environment and will typically have a long life, due to its durability.
