Rice Husk Plate Product Eco Rating
Rice Husk Plates are manufactured using a relatively low amount of resources, energy and process is non-toxic.
During the manufacturing process of Rice-based products, a byproduct is created from the Rice Hulls in a powder form. With relatively low temperatures and a few other ingredients, an extremely durable, reusable and completely biodegradable material is created that these Rice Husk Plates are produced and shaped from.
The reduction in waste, sustainable manufacturing process, durability, practicality and the ability to completely biodegrade is why Rice Husk Plates and other tableware are considered to be very eco friendly and sustainable.
Sustainability of EcoSouLife’s Rice Husk Plates
These Rice Husk plates are a natural, plant based product. They’re manufactured by using the outer coating of Rice grains, known as Rice Hulls or Rice Husk, that are usually discarded during during the manufacturing process Rice based products.
While processing White Rice, each milled kilogram produces about 220-280 grams of Rice Husk as a byproduct. The Rice Husks are used in a few ways, mainly as a fuel but they can be turned into pallets or made into an ash and powder that can then be used to create products, such as camping tableware, which is quite a new way of using the material that often largely wasted.
Rice Husk Ash otherwise known as Rice Husk Powder is put through a non-toxic process where other binding ingredients are added, including Cellulose, Starch, Water and Nano-silica. A highly durable and dense material is created that’s ideal for making cups, plates, bowls and dinnerware items as it’s reusable, biodegradable within 2 – 3 years, can withstand temperature between -30°C to 120°C, Microwave safe and Dishwasher safe. Added to it’s eco friendliness, Rice Husk plates are also free from both BPA and Melamine.
