Lake Arragan & Red Cliff Campground

Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds is right on the coast, about half way between Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay where you can set up base on the grassy camping area between the lake and beach.

Choose between generous size shady campsites near the amenities and lake or more exposed sites with beach views, but don’t stress over it, wherever you end up will offer a great camping experience where you’ll never be more than a short walk from the water.

Enjoy splashing around in the waves or having a surf at the beach, otherwise head for a dip in the calm lake which often has warmer water and easy access via a small jetty or beach (when the mouth to the ocean is closed). Once you’ve spent enough time in the water or just want to keep dry, head over to the grassy area above the small cliffs and enjoy looking out to the ocean.

Red Cliff Grey Cliff Campground is the next one to the south, followed by Red Cliff Central Campground and Red Cliff South Campground, all of which are on the coast. There’s also Red Cliff North Campground which is slightly inland compared to all of the others.

Drop toilets are available near the lake and they’re cleaned daily. There isn’t any drinking water, you’ll need to bring along your own supply.

Fire pits and picnic tables can be found throughout the Lake Arragan & Red Cliff Campground, many individual campsites have their own.
