Small Handwoven Wicker Picnic Basket Product Eco Rating
The Bronte Picnic Basket is mainly made of strong, natural materials with a synthetic internal lining for the insulation.
The outer construction of the picnic basket is handwoven wicker, made from rattan, which is a sustainable material due to how durable, abundant and easily renewable it is. Pine Wood and Beech Wood is also used in the outer construction, including the chopping board lid and handle. Both of these wood types are much the same as rattan, in the way that they are a natural and easily renewable material.
Wicker is one of the oldest known forms of furniture construction and rattan wicker products are well known for their strength and weather resistance, although it’s highly recommended to give both the outside and inside of the picnic basket a good wipe if it becomes damp.
As the wicker is handwoven, there is a considerable decrease in the resources required to produce this picnic basket.
To insulate the basket, synthetic materials are used as a means to increase its ability to keep the contents chilled and fresh. This has impacted the rating given to for the manufacturing process and biodegradability.
