100% Sustainable Bamboo is used in this bottle and as a material it’s very strong, quite durable and in this form, it’s completely biodegradable.
Glass isn’t quite as strong, but it’s very durable if treated well. Bamboo, Glass and even the Stainless Steel mount for the Crystal are all recyclable.
If the Glass isn’t recycled and incorrectly disposed of, it doesn’t leach toxins into the environment.
As this drink bottle is durable and can be reused for many years if handled with care, the Glass doesn’t leach toxins, the sustainability of Bamboo and all of the materials’ recyclability and biodegradability abilities are why this Crystal Infused Water Bottle is considered to be eco friendly.
Sustainability of Bamboo & Glass
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world and very easily renewable as the stems just need to be chopped and roots do not need to be dug up to plant a new crop. Bamboo plants also improve the quality of the soil, reduce erosion, produce Oxygen and soak up more than 5 times the CO₂ than similar plants. Very little work is required from harvesting the Bamboo to turning it into products, such as the outer part of this mug.
Growing, harvesting and regrowing Bamboo is extremely sustainable, then the material itself is extremely strong and durable. Bamboo is tougher than any Hardwood and when comparing its tensile strength to Steel, which is 23,000 PSI, Bamboo outperforms it and is stronger with 28,000 PSI.
When Bamboo isn’t manufactured using a chemical process, it’s completely recyclable and 100% biodegradable.
Glass isn’t as durable as Bamboo in the sense of handling knocks, it does tend to break if isn’t handled with care, although otherwise it can last for an extremely long time, then it’s completely recyclable. With the top and the bottom of the bottle being made of Bamboo with a tough Stainless Steel mount for the crystal, this bottle is still quite durable if looked after.
The manufacturing process for Glass has improved in recent years, in regards to its environmental impact, although it does still give off some CO2 emissions, create other toxic fumes and the melting furnace does require a lot of energy to operate. Although most Glass products are not recycled, the ones that are almost always get turned into a new Glass product and this does help to reduce the overall negative impact of the Glass manufacturing industry.
Even if Glass products aren’t disposed of correctly and don’t end up in Landfill, it won’t have a negative impact on the soil or water that it touches as Glass is stable and doesn’t release toxins. This also applies to your drink.
